Die Entwicklung Obergurgls vom Bergbauerndorf zum Tourismuszentrum

This report demonstrates the severe social changes witnessed in Obergurgl, Tyrol from a mountain farmers’ village to an intensive tourist resort. The transition in the attitude and socio-economic and behaviour patterns of the local inhabitants are investigated not only generally but also on a micro-level. In a final chapter a new sociological theory on socio-economic change is developed.
