International Mountain Camp in the French Alps

Nestled in the breathtaking landscape surrounding majestic Mont Blanc, an unforgettable international summer camp brought together young people from Liechtenstein, France, Italy, Switzerland, and Slovenia. More than just a hike through alpine trails, the camp was a celebration of connection, discovery, and real inclusion.

The last camp of the Via Alpina Youth project, that lasted from July 7th to 11th, 2025, brought together a group of 18 participants to share a unique experience in the mountains. For many, it was a week of firsts:

  • Sleeping in tipis or a mountain hut perched at 2000 meters
  • Attending an international camp and use English in practice
  • Reaching high altitudes or even visiting the mountains
  • Seeing a glacier up close
  • Traveling by train
  • Eating (stinky) French cheese
  • …and more!

Together, we climbed peaks, explored waterfalls and the Farinet's Cave (Alpine Robin Hood), faced personal fears and challenges and learned about each other’s cultures. We cooked delicious meals, gathered around the bonfire, played games and even celebrated birthdays. Even rain didn’t stop us— it showed us the unpredictability of nature. Each moment was a chance to connect, and every view reminded us of nature’s quiet power.

Hiking in such a diverse international group was the perfect way to bring the project’s goals to life. We’re proud and grateful for the time we shared—and especially for opening the world of mountains and international friendship to those who might not otherwise have the chance.

The Via Alpina Youth project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union.
